A modpack is a ready-made set of mods that are tested together, like All the Mods, Create packs or RLCraft. The Modpacks page in your panel installs the whole pack, the right loader and the right Minecraft version for you.
1. Check you have enough RAM
Modpacks use much more memory than vanilla Minecraft.
| Modpack size | Example | RAM |
|---|---|---|
| Light (under 100 mods) | Fabulously Optimized, small Create packs | 6 GB |
| Medium (100 to 200 mods) | Most "kitchen sink" packs | 8 GB |
| Heavy (200+ mods) | All the Mods, big tech packs | 12 GB or more |
If your plan is too small, the server will lag or crash. Upgrade from the client area.
2. Back up your world
Installing a modpack replaces your server's files. If you want to keep your current world, make a backup first from the Backups page.
3. Install the modpack
- Open your server in the panel and go to Modpacks.
- Search for the pack by name.
- Pick the pack version. The newest is usually best, unless your friends already play an older one.
- Click Install and confirm.
The server stops, installs the pack and its loader, and is ready when the console says the installation is done. Big packs can take a few minutes.
4. Start the server
Press Start on the Console page. The first start of a modpack is slow, often 2 to 5 minutes, while it generates the world and loads every mod.
5. Friends install the same pack
Every player needs the same modpack and the same pack version.
- Install the CurseForge app or the Modrinth App, depending on where the pack is from.
- Search for the same pack and install the same version as your server.
- Launch the pack and join using your server address, as in How to join your Minecraft server.
Tip: Give the modpack profile in your launcher at least 6 GB of memory on your own PC too, or the game may freeze while loading.
