RAM is the server's working memory. Too little makes the game lag or crash; too much is money you don't need to spend. Use this table, then adjust as you play.
Quick answer
| How you play | Players | RAM | Price / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vanilla, survival with friends | 2 to 5 | 2 GB | Rp 20.000 |
| Vanilla or plugins | up to 10 | 4 GB | Rp 40.000 |
| Light mods, small modpack | up to 10 | 6 GB | Rp 60.000 |
| Medium modpack | up to 10 | 8 GB | Rp 80.000 |
| Heavy modpack, or 15+ players | 10 to 20 | 12 to 16 GB | Rp 120.000 to 160.000 |
| Big community, many mods | 20+ | 20 GB or more | from Rp 200.000 |
Every plan also gets 4 GB of NVMe storage per GB of RAM, and 1 CPU core per 2 GB of RAM.
What uses the most RAM
- Mods: each mod adds memory. Big modpacks with 200+ mods need 12 GB or more.
- Players spread out: ten players exploring in ten directions load far more of the world than ten players in one base.
- View distance: a high view distance loads more chunks. Lower it in Properties if the server struggles.
- Farms and redstone: big mob farms and lots of item entities use memory and CPU.
Signs you need more RAM
- The console shows
Can't keep up! Is the server overloaded?often. - The server crashes with
OutOfMemoryError. - Blocks reappear after you break them, or mobs freeze.
Try lowering view distance and installing a performance mod or plugin first. If it still lags, upgrade from the client area. Your world and files stay the same.
