How to whitelist and OP your friends on a Minecraft server
Keep strangers out of your server with a whitelist, and give trusted friends operator (OP) rights, using the panel console.

Anyone who knows your address can try to join your server. A whitelist makes it invite-only, which is the best setting for a friends and family server. OP (operator) gives a player admin powers in the game.
All commands below are typed in the Console page of your panel, without a slash. In the game, OPs can type the same commands with a slash in front, like /whitelist add Budi.
Turn on the whitelist
- Open your server's Console.
- Add yourself first, so you aren't locked out:
whitelist add YourName - Turn it on:
whitelist on
You can also switch Whitelist on in the Properties page and restart. Turn on Enforce whitelist there too, so players are kicked as soon as you remove them.
Add and remove players
| Do this | Command |
|---|---|
| Add a player | whitelist add Budi |
| Remove a player | whitelist remove Budi |
| See who is on the list | whitelist list |
| Turn the whitelist off | whitelist off |
Use the player's exact Minecraft name. Bedrock players who join through Geyser have a dot in front, like .Budi123.
On a Bedrock server the command is allowlist instead: allowlist add Budi.
Make someone an operator (OP)
- Give OP:
op Budi - Take it back:
deop Budi
OPs can change game mode, teleport, ban players and stop the server, so only give it to people you trust. For finer control, like letting kids use /home but not /gamemode, install the LuckPerms plugin (see How to install plugins).
Kick or ban someone
- Kick:
kick Name reason - Ban:
ban Name reason - Unban:
pardon Name
